WELL, HELLO
NEIGHBOR!

Not everyone can be a Big or an Ambassador—but that doesn’t mean you can’t make a difference! Big Neighbors are passionate supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters who want to stay connected and lend a helping hand when they can. Whether it's pitching in at events, spreading the word, or offering support in other meaningful ways, Big Neighbors play a vital role in igniting potential in young people.

As a Big Neighbor, you’ll receive a dedicated quarterly newsletter packed with upcoming engagement opportunities—just like the volunteer roles below—so you can jump in whenever it fits your schedule. No long-term commitment, just big-hearted support!

WON'T YOU BE OUR NEIGHBOR?

Big for a Day

Plan an activity for the kids on our wait list.  They don’t get to go out with a Big each week and could use a ‘Big for a Day’ to have fun at a BBBS event.  What does it take?  A two-hour activity and 10-15 volunteers.  Plan a field day or board game night.  It’s simple and easy to be a Big for a Day.
Group Event Volunteers

BBBS coordinates group events for our Bigs and Littles each month.  Sometimes we play kickball, create arts and crafts projects, grill and play field games at our annual picnic, carve pumpkins at Halloween, and lots of other fun things.  You can be the umpire, craft leader, griller and more.
Office Volunteer

Are you an organizer?  Like being around people and helping out?  Then come hang out with us.  BBBS is looking for someone to help answer phones, file, organize supplies, create fliers, prepare mailings, and many other things.  This position requires 4 hours per week, consistently at least one day a week, Monday through Thursday.
Volunteer Photographer/Videographer

A picture is worth a THOUSAND words!  Sharing the stories of our matches through pictures and video is such an important part of getting the word out about BBBS.  Duties will include: event and activity photography, head shots, and other photography opportunities for marketing purposes of the organization. The time commitment would be 1-2 hours approximately 1-2x per month, as requested in advance. You will require your own camera and accessories. We will need the final format of images to be digital for our use. To succeed in this volunteer position, the participant will have an artistic and creative eye to best capture our events and activities, reliable transportation, and a drive to exhibit the energy around our events, activities, and volunteers.
Adopt-A-Family Assistant

Do you like spreading joy?  Do you believe that every child deserves a Holiday?  Then help us create a magical experience for our kids and families around the Holidays.  Adopt-A-Family kicks off in October and wraps up in the New Year.  The AAF Assistant will work with the Program Supervisor to reach out to former and new potential donors who could help brighten the Holidays for a family in our community.  Duties will include assistance with writing letters, making telephone calls, transcribing family lists onto Wish List forms, sending lists to donors, coordinating pick up and drop off from donors and ensuring that proper Thank You cards created for our donors.  This position will require 5 hours per week throughout October and November.  The hours would likely increase to 10 hours per week in December.
Volunteer Storyteller

Are you good with words?  Do you like learning about people and being inspired?  Then come help us tell the stories of our Bigs and Littles.  Duties will include the production of stories to be distributed in marketing materials, on our website, and distributed to the media in the form of press releases. The time commitment would be 3-5 hours per week.  To succeed in this volunteer position, the participant will have a keen eye for grammar and editing, a creative approach to storytelling, and experience in journalistic writing.
