Meet Marguerite and Andaiye, our December Match of the Month!Since they were first matched in 2019, these two have had so much fun doing new things together. Some of their favorite activities have included building a fairy garden, perusing local garage sales, going to the fair, doing arts and crafts, and visiting Unicorn Feed and Supply in downtown Ypsilanti. No matter what they’re doing, though, they always have a great time together! One of the ways that Andaiye has ignited potential in Marguerite is by pushing her to try new things, such as making snow globes and rugs and gardening. Marguerite has returned the favor by encouraging Andaiye to move beyond her comfort zones, too, and both of them have greatly enjoyed picking strawberries, making pies, and trying elephant ears at the fair for the very first time!
This match has been empowering for both the Big and the Little because since their very first meeting, they have encouraged each other to be completely themselves and both have blossomed as people in the safe and accepting space they’ve created for each other. Marguerite said she has so much fun going to different places with Andaiye and being dramatic and goofy together in person, while Andaiye told us that she loves having someone she can be silly and do cool things with. A primary way Bigs defend the potential of their Little is by setting a good example for them on how to handle adversity. This Match experienced more than their fair share of the unexpected during the worst of the pandemic, but Andaiye rose to the occasion beautifully by finding safe outdoor activities for them to do together, such as working in the garden and even having outdoor movie nights. Teaching this kind of flexibility will help defend Marguerite’s potential for years to come! Comments are closed.
